By Dianne Crane

Easter is an important festival for all Christians. It is the time of the year when we are reminded about the crucifixion and also the triumph that the Lord Jesus had over death. There are various Easter play scripts which you could choose for this Easter. God is immortal and man is only meant to do the wishes of God. It also tells us that we are indebted to the will of sll people around us.

This festival mainly depicts the portion of the life of our Savior Jesus, when He is nearing the end of life on Earth. It deals with the aspect of social life where interdependence and continuance of life is subjected to various things and have differing values for different people. Putting up a drama which tells us the entire story can be daunting. However, it is also thrilling.

The Savior gets ready for his departure from worldly life and expresses himself clearly at the Last Supper to his disciples. He speaks of the bread being His body and the Wine being his blood. This symbolism is the basis of the sacrament which we commit ourselves to. We are granted absolution from our sins and eternal life through the Holy Communion.

Celebrations on this day are mostly limited to family members participating in a get together. Meals are shared and members of a family strengthen their bonds by Christian faith and commitment to eternal life. This kind of participation makes this day special as the family members get to renew not only their religious faith but also have a chance to mingle with the rest of family.

After crucifixion, Jesus arises on the third day on the morning after the Sabbath. It marks the victory and is the bastion for all Christians. It is the promise of eternal life and the re-dedication to be one with the faith. This makes everyone happy and there is much celebration all around. The very foundation of Christian religion is based on this one fact that Jesus has promised us life everlasting if one should follow Him.

The day of Easter is marked as the Sunday that follows the day of the full-moon after vernal-equinox happens in the northern hemisphere; most of all the years the equinox is found to occur either on March 20 or 21. So the festival is celebrated in any days that follow. It is also linked to the Passover festival which marks the exodus in the Old Testament by the Egyptians.

Scripts are varied and some of them deal with the scene on Calvary Hill where the Cross bears witness to the life of a great man who is our Lord and Savior. There is another scene where Jesus is seen to come to Jerusalem in time to prepare for his Last Supper. The Resurrection is the theme for most plays and inspires lot of people.

Choose the correct Easter play scripts for your school or church event. Since this an event that tells about the triumph of our Lord over the Cross, it must be chosen with care. The dialogues should be those which are understandable by the members of the cast who are staging the show. It will be great fun choosing the script since there are plenty available.
